Art of Experience 2: Celebrating Women Artists at The Pie Factory

This October, The Pie Factory in Margate will once again open its doors to an exhibition with a difference.  Following the success of its first edition in April 2024, Art of Experience returns from the 8th to the 14th of October (11 am–5 pm daily), promising variety, vibrancy, and a warm welcome for all.

The idea began with organiser Louisa Hynes, who noticed that women artists “of a certain age” were too often overlooked.  While the art world tends to shine its spotlight on the young, she saw the wealth of life experience and talent among women who had either revived their art careers later in life or balanced creativity with decades of family and work commitments.  This exhibition gives them the platform they deserve.

Visitors can expect a diverse mix of work—playful, thought-provoking, and always accessible.  “There’s something for everyone,” says Hynes, reflecting on the joy and positive feedback from the last show. The highlight will be the Public View on Saturday, 12 October, 2:30–5 pm, where guests can meet the artists in person and enjoy refreshments in a relaxed setting. For anyone who believes art should reflect the full breadth of human experience—not just the youth-focused narrative—this is an exhibition not to miss.
