For Paweł Deska, art has always been about emotions. He believes emotions distinguish a good painting from one that lingers in memory forever. A Piotr Potworowski Fine Arts High School graduate in Poznań, Paweł’s artistic journey has always revolved around the human form—its face, silhouette, and soul. Unafraid to take risks or follow his intuition, Deska’s portraits are a testament to his courage. They capture not just appearances but personalities. His talent has garnered the attention of stars like José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, Vanessa Mae, Justyna Steczkowska, Edyta Górniak, and Andrzej Piaseczny.
The pinnacle of his career came with his collaboration with the CLARTE Foundation, supported by Tamara Łempicka’s great-granddaughter, Marisa de Lempicka. This partnership gave Deska the unique opportunity to work on projects inspired by the legendary Art Deco painter, whose works have been an enduring source of inspiration for him. Recognising his talent, the CLARTE Foundation granted him certification and full support to create paintings and authorized replicas of Tamara Łempicka’s masterpieces. Creating a replica of a painting is far more than simple reproduction—it’s a meticulous process requiring deep analysis and precision. Every detail matters, from selecting materials that resemble those used by Łempicka to replicating her brush techniques, use of light and shadow, and distinctive details. Achieving fidelity requires a painstaking focus on colour, texture, and composition, ensuring the final work captures the aesthetics and essence of Łempicka’s art.
For Deska, who has long admired Łempicka’s legacy, this collaboration is both a professional milestone and a personal dream come true. Recognition by such a prestigious institution validates his work and reinforces his artistic journey. With the foundation’s support, Paweł continues to advance his career while staying true to his artistic vision. Beyond his personal achievements, Paweł shares his knowledge and experiences through workshops for children and adults. “Art isn’t just work; it’s a dialogue—with yourself, the audience, and reality. Teaching others teaches me, too, because every person brings something new to the table,” he reflects. His work is a tribute to both art and life. “When I paint, I strive to capture the fleeting and share what matters most to me—emotions, reflections, sometimes an unsettling question. A painting isn’t just beauty; it’s a story meant to move the viewer.” Supported by his partner Dominik, his children, family, and friends, Paweł constantly hones his craft and explores new creative directions.
