I talk to Cleo Anderson about her latest global travels and the latest episodes of her luxury LUXE.TV show, ‘Wanderluxe with Cleo Anderson’. We delve into Cleo’s favourite memories from her recent shoots, the inspiration behind the series, and her exciting plans for the future.
MS: It is great to talk to you again, Cleo. Since our last interview, I know you have been very busy with your show – Wanderluxe with Cleo Anderson. Could you tell our readers a bit more about what you have been up to?
CA: Yes, we’ve had some exciting shoots in some stand-out locations. We have filmed some absolutely stunning episodes in Thailand, specifically in Phuket and West Phuket. I was also
able to tick off a bucket list location earlier this year when we visited Finnish Lapland, which was amazing. It’s one of my favourite episodes as the backdrop is just so breathtaking.
MS: Could you share more about where the inspiration came from to create your own luxury travel show?
CA: Having worked in the luxury sphere within PR for well over ten years, I realised that it’s a world that I am familiar with and really enjoy, and much of my career in PR meant travelling to a
lot of high-end hotels. I always felt that it would be nice to bring viewers along on my experiences, which is what sparked the idea for the show. I also grew up loving luxury property and travel shows so it all felt like a natural progression and was a dream I had had for quite some time.
MS: I know that you have filmed in some amazing places for Wanderluxe, from St Barth’s to Lapland. Do you have any favourites?
CA: It’s difficult to pick a favourite because there have been amazing highlights to each and every show we do: all of the destinations have something unique to offer. That being said, I really
enjoyed my time in Lapland. The reason is that the Finnish people really know how to host with warmth, and it is no mystery to me as to why they keep topping the list of happiest people in the world; there is something about Finnish hospitality that really stays with you. Also, being in Toronto was great as it was my first time in Canada. I absolutely loved it as a city and will
certainly be spending more time there.
MS: Recently, you filmed an episode in Phuket, Thailand, featuring three outstanding villas. I hear that LUXE.TV is not the only place where these villas have been showcased – could
you share more?
CA: Absolutely – we recently filmed in Villa Amaravida in Phuket’s exclusive Cape Yamu and it actually served as a filming location for one of the characters’ homes (Greg) in HBO’s White
Lotus. It was amazing to see excerpts from such a high-profile show and to know that we had just filmed there also for our show.
MS: When researching locations to film, what is it you look for in a property, hotel, or resort?
CA: Ultimately, we are looking for properties within the luxury space that are in some way unique or that reflect the location in which we are filming. Sometimes, we just find properties
that have the wow-factor and that we know will look great on screen, and so that would be a reason to select them. I’m always really keen to also showcase a few things to do in the
location.
MS: Do you have any standout experiences from your stays while filming Wanderluxe? If so, what are they?
CA: In our latest episode, we were filming in Thailand and the entertainment was really standout. The resort’s weekend BBQ on the beach was magnificent with fire-throwers and an
amazing array of food. Another experience that really stands out to me is the husky and reindeer safaris during my stay in Finnish Lapland. A notable mention is also the helicopter ride over St Barth’s, which was an amazing experience – it’s such a beautiful island.
MS: Finally, do you have anything currently in the pipeline? What does the future look like for Wanderluxe with Cleo Anderson for LUXE.TV?
CA: We have some amazing shows lined up. I’m really looking forward to a shoot we have coming up in Sri Lanka where we have three amazing hotels to feature, as well as a Sri Lankan
safari. We are currently also talking about filming an episode on a high-end luxury cruise, and that should be really amazing as well. Every episode is a joy to film, so I’m excited to see what’s
next.
